7 winners, 4 racquets, 2 shuttlecocks, 1 court, 1 DJ and 1 bar. That is the first year of the charity tournament promoting the reconstruction of the New Synagogue in numbers. Together with Badminton Centre MG we are offering to the 24 of you a chance to play this sport directly under the cupola which was hidden behind the roof of the cinema Centrum for more than 40 years. During competitions Peter Pavčo from Gramophon Brothers will play some music.

In accordance with the principle of kalokagathia a lecture on sport in fine arts at the turn of the 20th century by Tomáš Winter will be part of the badminton tournament.

Showers after football. Czech modern painting and sport

One of themes in Czech modern painting at the turn of the century was sport. It gained special status in paintings of Miloš Jiránek (1875 - 1911). In a wider context the lecture deals with emergence and interpretation of his canvases with themes of football and showers in Prague’s Sokol.

Sekatshi dobrotti are a random selection from infinite space of possibilities of musical composer and keyboardist Peter Machajdík, violinist Peter Krajniak and musician and theater director Jozef Vlk.

Peter Krajniak was studying violin on conservatory in Bratislava, VŠMU and at Academy of art in Banská Bystrica. He was concert master in Komorní sólisti Bratislava, he was a member of Musica Aeterna, Veni Ensemble, Haydn Sinfonietta Wien and he is a member of Solamente Naturali. Apart from classical violin, he also interprets baroque music on instruments of that time and plays electronic violin on parties with DJs.

Peter Machajdík creates and works with important people from international music scene, as are Jon Anderson from legendary art-rock group Yes, extreme vocalist and drummer David Moss, harpist Floraleda Sacchi, harpsichordist Elina Mustonen, organist Carson Cooman, violinist Milan Paľa and similar. He is a founding member of legendary collective Transmusic Comp. and Vitebsk Broken. His chamber and orchestral works were in recent years heard in the interpretations of Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Europea, Slovenský Komorný Orchester Bohdana Warchala, Filharmónia Bydgoszcz and Lugansk Symphony Orchestra. Except composing, he is working on realization of sound landscapes and cooperation with visual artists, such as founders of minimal art George Cup and Steve Elliott, German conceptualist Dirk Dietrich Hennig, Zbynek Prokop, Vladimír Popovič, Viktor Hulík, Juraj Meliš and many others.

Jozef Vlk is author, director, musician, producer, occasional light designer and founder of a group Hubris (later transformed to Debris Company), which main expression principle is non-verbal approach to classical literary themes (Kafka - Process, J. L. Borgés - Gospel in accordance with Mark, Joyce - Ullyses, Jarry - King Ubu, S. Beckett - Murphy, Breath, etc.), and is oriented also on authorial testimonies. Vlk is committed to the active form „gesammtkunstwerku“ and has behind him numerous home and foreign musical and theater collaborations. He got Dosky award for the best music. Outside of the theater activities he tried himself in directing medium format film Deň, he is also actively involved in new electronic music under pseudonym Double Affair.

In year 2005 father of filmmaker Adam Oľha decides to leave his wife and his six children and start a new life. Adam, as the eldest from the siblings and the last man in the family explores his father’s old video recordings, compares them with the present and tries to find out, what lead to this radical change. He is mapping his parent’s relationship from the beginning, he is revealing the problems in communication between husband and wife and observes, how problems of his parents reflects in the life of his sisters. Film won the audience award on documentary festival in Jihlava.

Three short performances, developed in cooperation between choreographer and dancer Zuzana Burianová and students from conservatory in Banská Bystrica and Martin.

Performance Dandó brings an inside view on particularity, formlessness and uniformity in the group of people without need to differ. One moment - expression of individuality, drags with it a wave of diversity and colors, which makes group suddenly change its way. Can you find in this piece parallels from your life?

Egoland shows the different characters and needs of people, exploring human ego. Physical level of the performance is connected with the work of the chest, which is the base of dance material through all performance.

In author’s performance EXUVIA student Michal Jurík is perceiving development and disintegration of the relationship between man and woman in very bizarre circumstances. Together with choreographer Zuzana Burianová and dramaturg Barbora Zamišková, students are experimenting in drama and physical theater.

Medium high evening of young fashion designers: Lenka Sršňová, Miša Bednárová – Puojd, Dana Kleinert, Mária Štraneková, Zlatica Hujbertová. Their work will be presented by models from agency EXIT, directed and choreographed by Roman Maroš.

It will be followed by small fashion show music with djs from Popular crew (Nu Spirit) and Mishek (Stereodisco).

Ivan Gontko, Tyjátr: Hercules Or Conquering the Hell traditional puppet performance Saturday 25. 5. 2013, 11.00 and 14.00, New synagogue

Do you have an idea how puppet theater looked in old times? Actor and director Ivan Gontko decided to revive the ancient tradition of puppeteers and on the base of audio transcription literally reconstruct an original theater play, performed by many generations of well known Slovak puppeteers family - Anderlovcy. You can experience this amusement on May’s Small market in New synagogue at 11.00 and 14.00 (and not in Stanica at 16.00 as usual).

The puppet play is inspired with Greek mythology and heroic deeds of strong Hercules. Pluto, prince of the hell sends disease on king Atmed. His close ones are trying to help him, so they go to the temple of Apollo, in attention to ask for kings’ recovery. Pluto, however, convinces queen Alceska to kill herself and return her husbands’ health with it. Alceska sacrifices herself and Pluto takes her to the hell. When cured Atmedus finds out about this, he decides to go to the mountains in order to live there like a hermit. At that moment, Hercules comes on the scene and goes to hell, to save queen Alceska from powers of hell and returns her to the earth. In the play, there is not missing even a funny character Gašparko.

It will test Pódium, the present installation of Jakub Kopec in the rising kunsthalle. Stanica would not exist without volunteers. Without locals, as well as foreign ones. The last ones are coming to us under program European voluntary service (EVS). If you are interested in traveling abroad and help as volunteer in some among many non-profit organisations (culture, social work, ecology…), come and listen to the stories of young people, who are in the moment in EVS program or they have it already behind them.

At the information seminar you will get all the basic information about EVS, which is a part of EU program Youth In Action. Its purpose is work with youth, support of creativity and non-formal and informal learning. Young people under 30 years can spend one year abroad as participants in the EVS program, or engage themselves in short term intensive programs of youth exchanges. Older may attend educational seminars and meetings to support youth workers and development of program on European level.

European volunteers are well „known” on Stanica - you can meet them behind the bar, selling tickets, you can see them distributing posters around the city, or they are leading ceramic workshops. They are doing also a lot of invisible things. In Žilina, except „our” volunteers, they are also some in Center of leisure time Žirafa. You can meet them personally and discuss with them about their unusual foreign experience, about interesting things and misunderstandings, which are connected with life in foreign place.

Jaro Viňarský: ANIMALINSIDE physical performance Wednesday 22. 5. 2013, 19.00

„… and the stage is empty, without a trace, and we are the ones, who let it, but it is fine like this … and the only question left is: who from us two should be a king …“

Physical performance based on the book of Hungarian author Lászlo Krásznahorkai and on the images of German painter Max Neumann. A duet of two performers about various animal forms inside of us.

Author of the book and illustrator inspire each other during the creation. This resulted in visually impressive book, where author in fourteen chapters is working with a sentence as an act of pure performance, full of humor and irony. Each chapter is one long sentence, one flow, full with rhythmical changes, tempo and images. They became the basic and inspiration for author of performance, that led text to movement, to dimension of the body and physicality, in which he is trying to find equal creative principles and transfer them through his body to the space.

Body, language, painting challenged to apocalyptic fight
with memory, thoughts, ideas and visions
about human specie, about power, about God, about purpose, about beauty of dreaming,
about love, big and other animal forms inside of us
howling of the bodies in the space of cruel time,
physical images from creative and textual world of indescribable emotions

Jeff Desom: Rear Window Loop opening, lecture Tuesday 21. 5. 2013, 17.00

Three-channel video installation Rear Window Loop of Jeff Desom, artist from Luxembourg, is a remix of a famous Alfred Hitchcock’s movie Rear Window. This movie, which was shot from a single perspective, Jeff Desom cut and pieced to one panoramic moving image, where all the events in the movie are happening parallel. For this installation in the year 2012, author got the highest prize Golden Nica on the festival Ars Electronica in Linz and from that time he collects further prizes with it.

Jeff Desom is mostly working on live animations and video clips for music compositions. Within the short lecture on the opening in gallery Plusmínusnula he will talk about Rear Window Loop and about his further work.

Alef 0 is a discussion evening about literature, art and new media with theorists, practitioners and doctoral students.

This time Zuzana Husárová will discuss with Barbora Šedivá about the topic: As for the media, art and exhibitions.

Barbora Šedivá is a member of the association Atrakt Art and 4AM Fórum for architecture and media. She is co-organizing music festival Next and festival of network culture Multiplace, she is also editor of the newspaper ¾.

It will be discussed about possibilities of media art and creation and presentation of digital artworks. Special look on reasons, benefits and models of collaborative curatorship. Their place will also get questions as: How is proceeding perception of media culture? What place does media art has in contemporary galleries? What is the role of curators in the present?

Frisk Frugt (Dk) Shibuya Motors feat. ddkern (Sk, At) concert Sunday 19. 5. 2013, 20.00

Name of the danish project Frisk Frugt in the translation means fresh fruit. Behind it stands likable guy Anders Lauge Meldgaard, who will come to prove, that pop can also be creative. In the colourful musical universe are meeting Danish folk songs with electronic, experimental rock, drone, psychedelic and jazz. Everything is supported by handmade electro-mechanical instruments and lately spiced with live drums.

The basic of the energetic and electric free-avant-core project Shibuya Motor are Slávo Krekovič (elektronics) and Miro Tóth (saxofón, voice). This time Austrian drummer, ddkern (Fuckhead, Bulbul, Kern&Quehenberger…) is spinning with them the same way as it is captured on the debut album from label Atrakt Art (2011). Breathtaking performance of this configuration usually tends to be short, but it goes all the way up on the maximum: in the surprisingly above-genres clashes are meeting elements of free jazz, art rock, dance electronics and death metal.
