Petra Dubach & Mario van Horrik: WAVES VLNY

For this autumn, after playing with material (wood with Juraj Gábor) and lighting conditions (blue twilight with Kristína Kandriková), we decided to play with emptiness, acoustics and sound. Together with dutch artists Petra Dubach and Mario van Horrik, we are preparing a specific exhibition – a space of sounds. During the duration of WAVES VLNY, we are preparing a number of other concerts, sound interventions, commented tours, performances and other meetings. Opened to the public from 4th of October from 1:00 p.m. and from that time always opened from Tuesday to Sunday between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Opening and the first guided tour with the authors is on October 4th at 5:00 p.m. We’re gladly inviting!

Jozef Van Wissem

The world-famous avant-garde composer and lutenist Jozef Van Wissem returns to Žilina to present his latest album Behold! I Make All Things New (2022). Perhaps one of the most famous works of his is a collaboration with the director and musician Jim Jarmusch, with whom he recorded three albums and played a joint tour across Europe and USA. In 2013, he won the Best Soundtrack Award at the Cannes Film Festival for the music for the film Only Lovers Left Alive. We present an exceptional recital in the WAVES VLNY exhibition by Dutch artists Petra Dubach and Mario van Horrik.

Debate of Denník N: Županka Jurinová and her challengers

Pre-election debate of the favourites of the county elections in the Žilina – self-governing region, from which we will choose in the combined municipal elections on October 29th. About the battles of the right and the left, about cooperation with the government, about how the biggest crises of recent years have been affecting our county and how Žilina Region can change by 2026. Modern city – lecture by Dušan Mellner about the interwar architecture of Žilina

Ing. arch. Dušan Mellner, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Architecture of the STU in Bratislava invites you to October’s series of presentations The City of Žilina – Architecture and Presence. He will give a lecture on modern architecture in our New synagogue. You will get to know important interwar monuments that are under attack or have succumbed to developmental interventions, but also those that have been preserved in the city to this day.

GROOVE Electronic Delight

Refresh… The line-up behind the original Deeper Sounds of House is moving from the Stanica to New Synagogue’s café for new times and spaces in a refreshed edition of GROOVE Electronic Delight. Dash and Cornell from stereodisco.sk together with Richard aka DJ 08 and Adrian are preparing a sound load of rhythms. Many years of their experience from radio and various other music events promise a selection of quality tracks for listening and dancing. As always, our Fricko Brothers will take great care of the bar counter and good news for all those who like electronic music but go to bed early: we start from 6:00 p.m.!

Stanice na Stanici / exhibition of photographs by Petr Korček

Petr Korček’s photos of Slovak train stations will be installed until the end of the year and you can view them at any time during our opening hours every day between 12:00 and 22:00. Peter Korček worked as a photojournalist in various Slovak publishing houses for over fifteen years. He exhibits in home country and abroad and has won several awards for his work in the Slovak Press Photo and Czech Press Photo competitions.

Pre-election debate SP 21: The county under the magnifying glass

Debate with candidates for the chairman of the Žilina self-governing region, who will be elected on October 29. Will Erika Jurinová defend her position? Does the region need change? Who can deprive her of her chair? The three most serious rivals according to surveys will sit down at the discussion table. Triangle of sadness

Model Carl and his partner, influencer Yaya, are invited to a luxury cruise. They are accompanied here by a truly selected cream of the crop. When an unexpected event shuffles the cards, the travellers show themselves in their true light. Two-time winner of the Palme d’Or from the Cannes festival Ruben Östlund made a satirical comedy about social roles and the intoxicating effects of power.

Pre-election debate SP 21: Žilina under the microscope

Debate with the candidates for mayor of Žilina, whom we will elect in the combined municipal elections on October 29th, 2022. How Peter Fiabáne managed the previous four years? What are citizens satisfied with and what do they criticize? Is Žilina going in the right direction? This will be the topic of discussion with the most serious rivals for a seat at the town hall. It is organised by the SP 21 news portal, the online stream will be provided at zilina.sp21.sk.

Ludwig van in Žilina

We celebrate Beethoven’s birthday at the Stanica! The music of Ludwig van Beethoven performed by musicians from the popular VENI ensemble in the original concept of an open piece called „Ludwig van“ by the Argentinian-German composer Mauricio Kagel, whose film of the same name will be screened during the concert. We are hosting a rerun of the show, the premiere of which will take place on October 5th, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. in A4 in Bratislava. The organiser of the event is the Slovak section of ISCM.

KINESIS festival of young culture

Young Office Žilina (YO) is coming to us with the second annual KINESIS festival of young culture. It is a multi-genre networking event dedicated to all creative people from Žilina and the surrounding area. Everyone will find their way, whether it’s music, performing arts or creative workshops. YO tries to create a space for presentation in front of the audience, especially for budding artists. They look forward to seeing you at the Stanica!

Decision to leave

Detective Hae-joon is called to the case of the death of a man who killed himself under unclear circumstances by falling off a cliff. Living room

The theatre of masks and furniture from the workshop of the Czech-French art collective tYhle is an expedition of human imagination into the unexplored territory of furniture. It takes place between the walls of one room, in a world that exists parallel to ours. Each item in it has its own character. On the border between light and dark, amidst the silent creak of wooden legs and creaking doors, furniture and the human body become a canvas from which fantastic figures emerge and disappear again. In his project, Lukáš Karásek balances on the edge of mask theater, dance and circus and plays an exciting game full of imagination and humour.

Due to great interest, our „bug“ is here again. Do you have unnecessary but functional things at home? Furniture, dishes, appliances, sporting goods, collectibles, clothes, shoes, books or art…? You have the opportunity to pass them on. Or just come and find something you’ve been looking for for a long time. You can sell, exchange or give away things. We also offer space to sellers that are children. Market will be outside in the garden of the Stanica under the bridge from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The filming of a low-budget zombie horror movie goes awry in an abandoned building. Blanch Bratislava in motion in Žilina: Martin Kilvády – NOS TAL Žiíí

Workshop at 6 p.m. and dance performance at 8:00 pm with an exceptional Slovak dancer living in Belgium, Martin Kilvády. NOS TAL Zííí with the subtitle „When the heart hits are solidly dancing“ is a short movement performance that Martin Kilvády is preparing for the international festival of contemporary dance Bratislava in motion. It is inspired by the hits of the eighties and nineties and you will see it thanks to the pilot cooperation between our Stanica and an important festival that wants to gradually expand to other regions.

Blanch + Riava

BLANCH is the stage name of Bianca Mack. Blanch works as a solo artist and as a 4-member musical group (Dominik Špuler, Marek Votruba, Jakub Kolesár).

The repertoire has an alternative rock-pop sound with subtle elements of melancholy and discovery. The successful debut ‚Delusion‘ (Slnko Records) from 2019, which was the result of the author’s first three years of creative work, was followed up by Blanch and the band with last year’s album ‚VERACITY‘ (Slnko Records). On it, you can hear the sonic shift of the project and personal growth. But Blanch is no stranger to the sound of trap and hip hop, which is why, in addition to many collaborations with names like WEN and YOO, you can hear her together with a rapper and a producer Duch on their joint album ‚Indigo Waters‘ from last year. As part of Blanch’s concert repertoire, you will be able to hear a cross-section of previous work, especially songs from the latest album ‚VERACITY‘.

RIAVA is a young band from Bratislava with a minimalist sound made up of analog sounds of synthesizers, original rhythmic elements and piercing sound of the guitar. The melancholic but energetic alto of the singer Hanka Sumbala is in a penetrating connection with striking lyrics.

Be2Can Film Tour: Holy Spider

In Mashhad, the Spider-Man goes on a rampage at night, luring victims into his web. He kills women, prostitutes. While police ignores the crimes, Rahím, a journalist from Tehran, wanders the dark neighbourhoods of the holy city in search of the truth. The film Holy Spider is based on a true story and its title refers to the nickname of the serial killer Saïd Hanaí, who killed sixteen prostitutes in the city of Mashhad in 2001 because he considered them „unclean“. His trial caused a great stir in Iran, not only because of the horror that happened, but also because some media and conservative groups made him a hero.

Daniel Kordík: Ocela

Attention everyone with a music taste and sound corners outside the mainstream! The great Daniel Kordík will perform his current digital album live with us and will also add an after party…

Daniel Kordík’s music oscillates between free improvisation, electronic composition and field recordings. In 2001, he co-founded the collective Urbsounds and the music project Jamka. Together with Edward Lucas, he curates the London music label Earshots Recordings. He publishes his music on labels such as Urbsounds Collective, LOM, Sub Rosa, Takuroku, Baba Vanga, Weltschmerzen, Confront Recordings, Scatter Archive, Earshots Recordings.
