FEBRUARY PROGRAM

Nova synagóga:

until  19. 3.

exhibition

From dawn to dusk – Luděk Rathouský and Richard Loskot

Both artists have already exhibited in the New synagogue. Richard Loskot quite a long time ago at the construction site, at the beginning of our reconstruction, when his clean sheets of paper from the printer in the dome fell to the ground. Luděk Rathouský, on the other hand, three years ago, as a member of the Rafani group, when the theses about irrefutability in the land beyond the horizon were reflected in the lake under the dome. Now their works meet in one space at the exhibition of images and reflections. In addition to a rich accompanying program of commented tours, concerts and meetings with authors, we offer gallery education under the guidance of active artists as part of the With Your Own Eyes sessions. Contact for ordering – Katarína Škamlová katarina@novasynagoga.sk.

Viola and cello in their hands sounded quite different from classical music concerts. 25 years of Truc sphérique – screening and talking (…and celebrating)

On February 21, 1998, several former classmates from the Hlinská High School, already university students at the time, met in the attic of the Makovicky house. The event with the unconventional name Truc sphérique („something round“ from the French class at the grammar school) combined music, theatre, an exhibition and started the story of the civic association of the same name, which „operates“ both the Stanica and the New synagogue. Tuesday came to be exactly the anniversary date (25th!). The day when we show a movie at the Stanica. And so our celebration will be

dance

POCKETART Prague: Lion’s den / dance performance and workshop

The performance originally began as a performative investigation of the media, political populism and their manipulative powers. Performers Sabina Bočková and Johana Pocková become the embodiment of physical and visual images inspired by media space. In a never-ending dance duet, they fall together with the viewer into the symbolic lion’s den, which is like an abyss of uncertainty and ambiguity. They balance on the border between fun and perversity, they go from manipulation of the viewer to self-manipulation and oscillate between the roles of leaders and the roles of victims. With unusual ease and openness of meaning, they pass through well-known figures of socio-cultural references, creating a wide space for their own interpretation, critical thinking and adopting a personal attitude.

Summer light and then comes the night

(Scandi – Nordic film tour)

Award-winning Icelandic director Elfar Adalsteins made a drama about a sparsely populated village in Iceland, where all its inhabitants live far from each other. The geographic location is perfect for this kind of quirky, compassionate and ensemble film about how different and yet similar we humans are. A story about relationships, sorrows and joys intertwined in the stories of the villagers based on the book of the same name by the famous Icelandic author Jón Kalman Stefánsson.
